An Evening of Learning and Conversation to Honor the Legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel

Zoom link provided upon a $15.00 registration fee. There are no financial barriers to participation.

On January 11th, 2023, we will mark Heschel's 50th Yahrzeit, which also happens to be his birthday on the secular calendar. This date also falls within the week leading up to MLK day. The convergence of these events speaks to the special connection between these two visionaries and calls us to examine the ways in which their dreams have yet to be fully realized. Let us gather for an evening of learning and reflecting in a way that truly honors their legacy and their friendship. The evening will include an opening learning session with Earl Schwartz, author of numerous books and articles on Jewish life and education, including The Arc of the Covenant, followed by presentations from Demetrios Vital, Project Lead, IDEAL Center of the Science Museum of Minnesota (Connecting Cultures for Peace) and Brandon Schorsch, Combating Hate Program Manager (JCA).

The Hineni program believes that engaging with Jewish teachings and practices challenges the mind, inspires the imagination, and touches the soul, enriching individuals, communities, and the world. Wherever you stand in relation to Jewish tradition, Hineni offers an array of adult Jewish learning opportunities and contemplative practice experiences, many in collaboration with Twin Cities area synagogues and agencies. www.ttsp.org/hineni/
